Simply
the best
Our week at the Sea-U was simply the best. I work
in the travel industry and I can honestly say this
is one of the few holidays I have experienced that
lived up to my expectations. The Sea-U created the
perfect environment for us, The staff were welcoming
and friendly, the banana crumble, delightful! I hope
we will stay with you again one day.

Forget
about time and worries
The rooms
are open to the wonderful breezes, never hot. The
flowers are beautiful as well as the people who make
your vacation so wonderful. The gardener Seacat
was especially nice to us and even opened coconuts
for us to sample. And guess what you never mind that
there is no TV or phones. There are great restaurants
nearby and Uschi prepares delicious food for you
in an outdoor setting. Tide pools nearby beckon you
to sit in the warm water and enjoy the fish life
that abounds around you. At night you can go
to sleep listening to the pounding of the waves against
the rocks below you. This is truly paradise.
I highly recommend this for a great vacation and
a place to forget about time and worries.

Serendipity
Sea-U looked lovely on
the website but the camera doesn't do justice to
the breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. The
air has to be medicinal; it is so clean and fresh,
the atmosphere is extremely relaxed, and the rooms
are simple but very romantic. Our fellow guests were
extremely pleasant people from all over the world
who are there to relax and savor the natural beauty
of the East Coast. Wonderful hostess too. This is
not a place for everyone - if you like floral bedspreads
and need to be entertained every minute of the day,
don't come! Best Feature? Serenity and romance.

It
was like a dream
Perched on the side of a hill surrounded by lush
vegetation and palm trees. Lying in a hammock with eyes closed.
The endless roar of the surf at the bottom of the hill and
the omnipresent Atlantic breeze rustling the trees. Through
the leaves, the sun.
Breakfast and dinner is served outside, under cover and screened from the wind.
Eating my eggs I see a Green Monkey in a tree. A Lesser Antillean Bullfinch
peeks his head under the linen covering the freshly baked coconut and banana
bread. The resident cat wanders on the deck. Seacat, one of the original
Bathsheba surfers, works as the gardener. He is friendly, smiling and talkative.
I hear the local gossip. Later in the afternoon he cracks open a coconut for
me. I drink the milk and eat the jelly. Introductions are made at dinner.
North America and Europe are represented. The affairs of the world are discussed,
as are trivial matters and the peccadilloes of our respective politicians.
We are satiated, but talk goes on. We are asked to turn out the lights when
we retire.
The house is constructed of wood, weathering nicely from the ocean breeze.
Adjustable wood jalousies allow cross ventilation to penetrate the rooms. A
ceiling fan ensures nighttime comfort. A mosquito net covers the bed, although
few bugs are apparent.
The nearby restaurants are all good. From the storied Atlantis Hotel to the
more sophisticated Round House, none were disappointing.
The beach is spectacular. Giant rocks litter the shoreline, eroded at the bottom
by the constant wave action. At low tide the relentless surf backs off to reveal
the shoreline reef and sand bottomed tidal pools are exposed for soaking and
splashing.
But all good things must come to an end.

Peace and
quiet
We did enjoy our stay at Sea-U. Our supper guests,
who live in Barbados, were also impressed with the peace
and quiet and the lovely view. We deeply appreciate all the
arrangements Uschi made for us. Everything was exactly as
promised.

A
casual spectacular seaside holiday
Just had a terrific 10 days at Sea-U. It was exactly as shown on the website
- simple, comfortable and completely practical seaside accommodation in spectacular
surroundings. Hostess Uschi Wetzels was charming as well as being organized
and full of knowledge about Barbados. The whole atmosphere was very casual
and the weather glorious.
We
walked down to the Bathsheba beach for a swim every morning,
(Uschi will tell you where), then spent the days driving
around sightseeing in our little rented Moke, which Uschi
also arranged. We could get over to Bridgetown or the
west coast soon enough when we needed to for shopping,
restaurants and all that stuff. The roar of the
surf in Tent Bay all night sure helped us sleep well.

Cool, peaceful and sophisticated
An ideal romantic stop off. The rooms are large and beautiful
with wooden floors and walls all finished with a very contemporary
wash. The shower is great and the kitchen is basic but clean,
anyway. Who wants to cook? A large mosquito net hangs over
the large double bed, while the fan and the louver windows
and doors ensure the cool sea breezes help you off to sleep.
Each room looks out onto the sea from high - with hammocks
on the decked porch and distributed among the palms in the
garden. It’s the sort of place that Vogue or Elle magazines
might be very happy to do a fashion shoot. Everything is
tasteful and the atmosphere relaxed.
There's an honesty bar to which
you are given a key to help yourself, and breakfast can
be brought to your room if you'd prefer not to socialize
with the other guests on the dining deck. We spent the
evening at the roundhouse, and then returned to drink champagne
on our deck in the dark listening to the sea. All in all,
well worth a stay. You'll remember it forever.

Outstanding holiday
location and a caring host!
We needed to find a hideaway where we could relax. Uschi's
Guesthouse is truly that and more. Located in what I feel
is probably the best location in Bathsheba, the view from
the Sea-U verandas over the Atlantic is breathtaking. A cool
breeze always seems to be present. The island is so small
that it's best to hire a little jeep or take one of the buses
that offer a good service throughout the island. You can
be in the west, south or anywhere in next to no time. A small
comfortable bar and availability of breakfast and home cooked
meals (which are superb) offer real flexibility. Cook in
your apartment if you wish, but who wants to do too much
of that in Barbados? The gardener (Seacat) is a cool dude,
too. He'll fill you in on the health giving properties of
coconuts! Toni has some cool tunes. Check out Morgan Heritage
and 'don't haffi dread.' Take a trip on a catamaran, swim
with the turtles and visit my favorite restaurant (apart
from Uschi's!) in Holetown, 'CoCoMo's'. Oh boy, day dreaming
again! You'll have a great time. We will return!

Barbados' best-kept
secret ----- the East Coast.
East Coast's best kept secret ----- Sea-U Guest House.
Gourmet meals, spectacular scenery, great porch, cosy rooms and a thoroughly
gracious and hospitable host. We loved the place.

An exotic haven
far from the maddening crowd
We were due to visit Barbados for a friend's wedding
and having decided that we would rather stay on the quiet
east coast (as opposed to the chaotic west coast), we booked
a room at Sea-U! Guesthouse. What we found was an exotic
haven far from the maddening crowd. Even though we hired
a jeep so as not to miss out on the beaches of the Caribbean
coast, we always knew that returning to Bathsheba in the
evening would be a breath of fresh air. It felt like returning
home.
There were no crowds
or tourists, just hammocks to laze in and beautiful views
to witness. The apartments were equipped with kitchenettes
and we found ourselves cooking in the evenings. When not
cooking, a fabulous three-course evening meal was served
and we shared it with other guests. As there were only
five rooms, the amount of people in and around the guesthouse
were limited and as a result the atmosphere was one of
relaxation and intimacy.
Congratulations to
Sea-U's! host, Uschi, who has maintained a true Caribbean
feel. We hope to return again in the future.

Pink
sky
Last
night as we watched the sky turn pink before the sunset and
lay in the hammock looking at the sea we both agreed that
this has been the best holiday ever. - So relaxing and as
we leave today, feel so envious of Uschi spending 365 days
a year her - wow! Thank you for a wonderful break away in
paradise - we will be back!

What
an experience
Sitting
in our kitchen we saw a glimpse of paradise, outside it was
cold & raining. We press a few buttons and the SEA-U!
calls us to the sun. What a place, what an experience both
of us have had a wonderful two weeks in the best located & most
friendly spot on the „wild" coast of Barbados. Thank
you so much Uschi for your great hospitality, great food
and for making us feel so welcome. We will be back!

Breeze
The most pleasant moment I've had, not just in Barbados, but
in a long time, is laying on a hammock in the shade with a
view of the ocean, the breeze through the palm trees, a good
book and a Banks beer. Sea-U Guesthouse is a find! I
rarely find a place while traveling that I look forward to
returning to at the end of the day.
